EPISODE 030. Tips & Tricks for a New Years' Reset

New year, new you! Amirite?!

And a new you would totally thrive in a clean, organized & decluttered space! It's a fact.

There's no denying that starting fresh in a new year is the best feeling ever. So, today, we're talking all about decluttering & resetting the space around you for the New Year. It's true that a clean space directly correlates with a clean mind, so it's time to get rid of some things & maximize your focus & potential.

Some important tips & tricks for decluttering:

  • Shift your mindset! Instead of thinking, "can I use this?" think to yourself, "WILL I use this?" Sure, lots of old things can be used, but if you haven't used it in six months or longer, you'll probably never use the item in question.
  • Set a timer! It's easy to get distracted when you're cleaning your own space. Challenge yourself to beat a timer (I recommend a 30-minute timer)!
  • Think about if the item in question truly serves a purpose in your life. We love taking Marie Kondo's advice: does it bring you joy? If it doesn't (even if it did at one point in your life), it's okay to donate it, which will then bring someone else joy!
  • Utilize baskets & bins (we elaborate on this a lot in today's episode)!
  • Remember: take it one step at a time. Odds are that you won't be able to declutter your entire home in a day. One small task each day helps tremendously! Stay focused on the task at hand in order to reduce the feeling of overwhelm. The Chore Challenge will help so much with this!
